Common questions
How do I log a practice shot?
Pick a flag at the range and get its distance (a rangefinder works best). Set it as your target in Practice, hit your shot, then tap where the ball landed compared with the flag and save it. The carry goes into that club's average in My Bag.
How do rounds work?
Pick your tees and choose 18 holes, the front 9 or the back 9. Before each shot, pick your club, hit a real shot at the range, then tap where it would have finished on the hole and tap Track shot. Once you reach the green, your putts are simulated. Rounds are on the honour system.
What do I do if a shot goes out of bounds or I lose it?
Mark where it went and tap OB / Lost. Then replay from your last spot for 1 penalty stroke, or drop on the fairway near where it went out for 2 penalty strokes (a local rule many courses use).
Can I pick up on a hole?
Yes. Tap Pick up and enter your most likely score. The most a hole can count is net double bogey (par + 5 until you have a handicap).
How does the Range Handicap work?
It's worked out the way the World Handicap System does it, using rounds on RangeSim National. Choose Every stroke (your actual scores) or Max per hole (each hole capped at net double bogey, like official handicaps) on the Stats screen. It needs 3 scores (18 holes, or two 9s). It's for your RangeSim rounds only and isn't an official handicap.
How do I turn off the rules tips?
Use the switch under the tees when you start a round, the switch in Help on the home screen, or tap Turn off on any tip.
Can I finish a round later?
Yes. Your round saves after every shot. Tap Continue round on the home screen next time.
How do I delete a session or a round?
In Stats, swipe left on a range session or round, or open it and use the delete button.
Will I lose my data if I get a new phone?
RangeSim keeps everything on your phone. It moves to a new iPhone if you restore it from an iCloud or computer backup. Deleting the app deletes its data.
